Hosting at your home
Each month we organise several Sunday afternoon teas at a local hosts home for 6-8 elderly members. With support from one of our event coordinators, along with the volunteer drivers on the day (approx. 3-4), some hosts serve sandwiches and cake, whilst others prefer to prepare a hot meal. It really is up to you! – oh and plenty of Tea!
We know how daunting it can be welcoming people into your home, but with support from our friendly coordinators and drivers, you’ll soon see how rewarding it is for all involved.
What do I need to host?
Most volunteers host once or twice a year and so it’s a great opportunity for those with busy schedules to give back to the community.
The only requirements are to have an easily accessible home with seating for the 6-8 members, fewer than three steps, and a downstairs WC. Some members have walkers, and so a little maneuvering room is ideal.
