The team at The Sharp Group, along with friends and supporters, are taking on an incredible cycling challenge this May — and they’re doing it for a cause close to all of our hearts.
Pedalling 190 kilometres over two days along the north coast of France, the team will journey through some of the most historically significant landscape in Europe, culminating on the beaches of Normandy — in honour of those who gave everything there, and for the elderly people in our community who need us today.
It’s a fitting tribute. Many of the people we support at The Communi-Tea Circle lived through the shadow of the Second World War, and some carry memories of that era that shaped their entire lives. This ride is for them too.
The team will be covering around 95 kilometres a day across two days of cycling, taking in the stunning — and at times challenging — coastal roads of northern France before arriving at Normandy, one of the most poignant destinations in the world.
Every penny raised will go towards keeping our social gatherings running for elderly people across Hornchurch, Upminster and the surrounding areas — a warm, welcoming space for those who live alone and may not have the support network they deserve.
Could you help the team on their way? Please donate what you can — every pound brings us closer to reaching more people who need us.
Interested in getting involved in a future challenge, or want to volunteer your time with us? We’d love to hear from you. Click here for more details.

Scott Day, a building surveyor from Hornchurch, has completed the London Marathon in an incredible 4 hours and 51 minutes — and in doing so, raised a phenomenal £2,072 for The Communi-Tea Circle.
Scott ran every one of those 26.2 miles in memory of his nan June, who he lost in late 2024. Having seen first-hand how loneliness could creep in even when family support was present, Scott wanted to do something meaningful — and he has delivered in style.
Every pound he has raised will help us continue hosting regular social gatherings for elderly people across Hornchurch, Upminster and the surrounding areas, providing a warm and welcoming space for those who need it most.
A huge thank you to Scott, and to everyone who donated and cheered him on. What an achievement!
If you’d still like to support Scott’s fundraiser, it’s not too late — every donation continues to make a real difference to someone’s day.
And if you feel inspired to give your time as well as your money, we’re still recruiting volunteer drivers, hosts and coordinators. Click here for more details and to apply.
Ivan Corsby Personal Training and a dedicated team from Edge Gym took on the ultimate test of endurance in July 2025: The Three Peaks Challenge.
An arduous test of physical and mental endurance, The Three Peaks Challenge involves conquering the summit of the highest mountains of Scotland, England, and Wales within a 24-hour window. This formidable undertaking includes Ben Nevis (1,345m), Scafell Pike (978m), and Snowdon (1,085m), encompassing a total walking distance of approximately 23 miles (37km) and a cumulative ascent of around 3,000 meters (9,800 feet).
Beyond the sheer physical strain of the climbs themselves, the challenge incorporates the significant driving time between each mountain, requiring meticulous planning and efficient time management. Participants must contend with varying terrain, unpredictable weather conditions, and the need for sustained stamina, making it a truly demanding but rewarding feat.
We’re so thankful the team chose to fundraise for The Communi-Tea Circle.
Despite various injuries, sore limbs, countless steps, and many missed hours of sleep, they successfully completed the challenge raising an amazing £2.1k in donations. With gift aid, the total raised for the Communi-Tea Circle is a staggering £2,557.50!
We couldn’t be prouder and more thankful to all involved.
A huge well done to the entire team – Ivan Corsby, Pumi Suphawan, Liam O’Connor, Danny Coyle, Barrie Snow, Aimee Millie, Chelsea Sharp and Amy Coleman.
