What do our drivers do?
Our volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to help members that are unable to drive or use public transport, get to and from our social events. We allocate drivers based on availability and distance, and so whilst you might not be collecting the same members each time, it generally works out that you’ll collect those nearest to where you live.
Our members love a good natter on the journey and you’ll quickly see how rewarding it can be.
The majority of drivers stay for the duration of the events, whilst others use the time to do their shopping or run errands, before returning to collect the members for the trip back home.
Volunteering is always based around your availability and there is no pressure to drive on every event.
Vehicle requirements
Aside from the standard MOT, insurance and driving license, we just ask that your car is easy to get in and out of and ideally has space for a walker in the boot.
